Today our martial art's studio held its first in-house tournament. The Munchkins competed and I took photos. A lot of photos. 1,214 photos, to be precise. I think my brain is broken now. I'll post pics and fill you in soon.
Ugh, Alisa - it's so hard getting good pictures in a dojo! I set my camera to Shutter priority so I can freeze the action and I use a lens with a small aperture so it can let in the maximum amount of light. I don't like to shoot with a flash because I don't want to distract the students and draw attention to myself so I bump up the iso and then try to clean up the underexposed images in post processing afterwards.
Never! Thanks, sounds like what I *try* to do, just never really works. I've almost given up and just use the extra large flash. They might be blind, but I'll have great pictures of them trying to spar. Maybe I should try your way again? Thanks for the tips! I really, really appreciate it.

Sounds like fun. Good luck going through all those pictures! Then, you can give us all tips on how to take good pics in fluorescent lighting.
