Seasonal Whiplash

Just yesterday I was celebrating Thanksgiving with the family and today we were singing Christmas carols in church and starting the season of Advent. What happened?!

In case you can't tell, I am not a person who puts up their Christmas tree in November. My method is to completely deny any knowledge of the impending holiday until at least the second week into December. Yes, yes, it is a bit hard with all of the Christmas music playing everywhere and the store decorations going up but still, somehow, I manage.

It doesn't help that the kids are actively counting down the number of days until Christmas. Every morning they seem to take great delight in vexing me announcing it.

Hmmm?
(puts fingers in ears)
I can't hear you....

Ah, I wish I had that luxury. I start panicking in October, trying to make up enough stock so I don't sink under the Christmas orders. And of course I always find myself at the end of November and out of stock on several designs. :P

Sleep? What's sleep? Anyway, I can get some of that after Christmas, right?

I am so glad I found someone just like me :) I try to hold out for the week before Christmas to put up the tree!

Littlest Buckaroo asked me why in the world would there be Christmas stuff up in W-Mart on Holloween. He said that is not good, did they forget Thanksgiving? Maybe the don't have any pilgrim and Indian pictures." Oh, so wise for such a young guy. I might get my Charlie Brown Christmas tree this week. Always a disappointing highlight when the park ranger brings it home.

I respect you for waiting-however, I go so completely neurotic over my tree that it takes forever, and then I end up depressed having to take it down so soon.....thus, it must either go up in November, or stay up until late January....it's all totally ridiculous-but I secretly love it!! I do think the radios could hold off a bit on the songs, though....

This is the first year in I don't remember how long that I can't wait to get Christmas going.
I do feel that Halloween was only yesterday however.
One of the kids mentioned that they only have 15 days of school left until break. Yikes! I need to get to the mall.

I can't talk. Although I have John Denver and the Muppets cranked, I also still have a couple of harvest decorations up. Talk about a juxtaposition...

Poor Jo. I can understand why your work is so in demand though. I hope you get a few nice naps in between now and Xmas at least!

Diane - you go girl!

The Park Wife, you have a smart little guy. But maybe you should pick out the tree this year. :)

Lauri, I bet your house looks lovely. And I bet your son loves it.

Alisa, ack! Thanks for reminding me. It's so much harder to shop when the Munchkins are with me!

Camie, I'm sure John would understand.
