All I want

Everybody stops and stares at me
These two teeth are gone as you can see
I don't know just who to blame for this catastrophe!
But my one wish on Christmas Eve is as plain as it can be!
(sing along!)

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth, my two front teeth, see my two front teeth!
Gee, if I could only have my two front teeth, then I could wish you "Merry Christmas."
It seems so long since I could say,"Sister Susie sitting on a thistle!"
Gosh oh gee, how happy I'd be, if I could only whistle (thhhh, thhhh)
All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth, my two front teeth, see my two front teeth.
Gee, if I could only have my two front teeth, then I could wish you "Merry Christmas!" Posted by Picasa

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Not a creature was stirring

One thing we love about Winter weather is that we get to build a fire. It's so peaceful and relaxing to sit in front of the flames, sipping on hot chocolate. Or just snoozing.

Abe and Frodo enjoying the warmth of the hearth. Funny, usually it's the cat on the dog bed and the dog laying mournfully nearby. Wimp.

My Husband Looks Like Andrea Bochelli

My husband looks like Andrea Bochelli. They are both Italian. He's got the same wavy, salt and pepper hair, the same scruffy beard, the same suit -wait - not the suit. I've only seen my husband in a suit once: at our wedding. And maybe his grandmother's funeral. Then there's the small issue that DH can't sing. But he can see. So there are subtle differences, but the resemblance is a bit uncanny, don't you think?

Apple picking

The kids got the last of the apples from our trees. We made some applesauce from them and have enough left over for some pies!

Overheard at our house

Master Munchkin remarked in a very matter-of-fact voice, "If you leave a fly on you too long, it hurts."

Oh deer

This is a deer that was near our home. They like to graze at the edge of the trees in the evenings. We also saw a momma and her twins walking down our driveway a few nights ago! Posted by Picasa

Contentment

The kittens are about 3 1/2 months old now. Lizzy is very social and likes to spend time with us. She's quick to purr and has a scratchy little "mew".

Happy Thought Indeed!

Jane Austen used such wonderful phrases. My family quotes some of them from time to time, which tickles me and makes me very happy! One of DH's favorites, to use with the children: "And *yet* I am unmoved".

Rocky Ridge Farm

We had a chance to visit Laura Ingall Wilder's home in Mansfield, MO. This is where she wrote the Little House Series. The small museum next door includes many items that were mentioned in Laura's books, including Pa's fiddle and Laura's glass bread plate. We also got to see the clock that Almanzo bought Laura for their first Christmas. The house was surprisingly modern and even had a fridge. It was interesting that Laura experienced so much change in her life. She traveled in both a covered wagon and a car! Posted by Picasa
