Well, we finally got the house on the market. Here are some of the interior shots that I took to give to the realtor. I think it cleaned up nicely. I especially like our bedroom; we finally removed the Country-style wall paper that was there when we moved in.
I am a master at moving stuff from place to place to make things look tidy. I usually cram things into my bedroom closet – out of sight, out of mind! I can’t do that so much now. We are getting new carpet this week so I will be venturing into the deepest, darkest corners of said closet tomorrow. Wish me luck!
Now for a Frodo update. When we brought him home from the vet’s on Friday, he wasn’t able to use the restroom by himself. Without going into the lovely details, let’s just say that we had to help him go several times a day. Yesterday he used his litter box successfully for the first time! Then again last night. For the first time, I think that he might just make a full recovery. Happy news!
Now, if I can just master the art of giving pills to a cat. Feel free to chime in with any tips!
Well, it's been a while. Like a whole LOT of while. Is anyone out there
from the old blog days? If so, it would be mighty fine to see you.
Rather a lot ...

Yea Frodo! Such great news. We had a cat we had to give a pill to every day for 4 years. Ugh. I miss that cat like crazy, but I sure don't miss pill time. My final answer - put that guy up on the counter, grab him firmly with your arm/elbow, yank his mouth open (thumb and forefinger on opposite sides of the jaw) and cram the pill back as far is it will go. (I actually used to kind of flick the sucker in. If it wasn't waaaaaay back, he could spit it out.) Don't be afraid, you're never going to hurt that cat. Do wear long sleeves until you master the technique.
Your house is gorgeous!
I'm so glad Frodo is on the mend! I saw a vet on tv talking about patches (you know, like the nicotine patches for humans?) that are available for cats. (The person who came up with that deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.) The patch is stuck to the inside of the cats ear. I have no idea what medications come in this form, it wouldn't hurt to ask.
Love your house!
Your house looks lovely! I miss having a basement. Sorry, I have no cat/pill advice. One of the great things about Labradors loving food, is that I put the pills right on top of their food and they disappear.

The things they don't tell you when you get a cat, eh?
I LOVE YOUR HOUSE. SRSLY!! Now if we could get it out of Kansas and out of the deadly spider zone, I'd be a buyer :-) Good luck!!
Lovely news for Frodo! I'm so relieved and glad for you all.
Your house is lovely!
Wow!!! You have been so busy and working so hard! The house looks beautiful! I hope you get some time to sit and enjoy it too.
Thanks for the cat pill-popping tips and kind comments about out house. I love the Patch idea!
New carpet going in today. I'm hiding in the basement.
Nice house! Good news about Frodo! When I had to give my cat meds, we would hold her under one arm, hold her mouth open, pop the pill in, then hold her mouth closed and stroke her throat. Of course, it's always better if you can get the meds in liquid form, which can be shot down her mouth with a dropper. Never had a patch - amazing what they come up with for our pets these days!
Um, I know how to give pills to a cougar. Does that count?
pill popping for cats: they make treats that you can stick the pill inside of.....of course if Frodo is smart he'll eat around the pill and get the snack for free. Otherwise we get down on our knees with kitty between our legs, open mouth (the cat's) and throw the pill in and then close kitty's mouth and tilt their head back.
There also might be a liquid option instead of the pill?
Thanks for the pill popping tips. I'm actually getting pretty good at it. Ugh. :P
Hey nice guy, that's pretty close to how we gave pills to the cougar. We used to get day-old chicks by the bag from the local turkey farm. (They weed out the boys at a day old.) We'd put the pills down the throat of the chick and feed it to the cougar. She swallowed them whole. Voila!
Oh Jo, that's horrifyingly hilarious!
Yeah, but it *works*. If you've ever watched a cougar delicately unroll a piece of bologna, dump the pills on the ground, and eat the meat... then you know the joy of going "how the bleep am I going to retrieve those pills without donating my arm as dinner?" Believe me, those chicks were lifesavers. :)
I suppose I should mention that the chicks were definitely already dead, just in case anyone thinks we were practicing animal cruelty...
